Feedstocks Overview

Feedstocks define the economics, carbon intensity and product slate across refining and chemicals. They consist of local natural resources as well as imported feeds. The Hexavault covers the key feedstock inputs to hydrocarbon processing and petrochemical manufacturing units.

For each feed in the list below, the source can be fossil, biorenewable, or derived from recyclate. As time goes on, most chemical products will be made from a mixture of virgin and secondary / circular feedstocks. This is achieved through a process known as “mass balancing” with blending in dedicated units set up with standardised procedures to measure the percentage renewable carbon content.
